The Message in Spike Leeââ¬â¢s Movie Do the Right Thing Essay -- Movies Fi
The Message in Spike Leeââ¬â¢s Movie Do the Right Thing While trying to edify crowds with an amazing message about the malignant growth that detest and viciousness can bring to a general public; author, executive, Spike Lee presents to Do the Right Thing to the screen. Combining a ground-breaking story with imaginative film making, Lee gives us an insiderââ¬â¢s take a gander at life on a rankling summer day in Brooklyn. The utilization of lighting is just a single strategy Lee uses to make a practical vibe for this film, which is relevant w...

Must-Do Things When Your Family Visits Chambana
Must-Do Things When Your Family Visits Chambana Last weekend, both of my brothers decided to visit the U of I. Were identical triplets, and rarely spent time apart from each other before collegeâ"needless to say, I was extremely excited. Since Im from the other side of the world, my brothers Jefferson (a History major at the University of Wisconsinâ"Madison) and Hamilton (a Film major at Vanderbilt University) were the first faces from home Id seen in a long time. I wanted to make the most out of this weekend and ensure that my brothers would have a blast, too. Unfortunately, the weather wasnt great, so we didnt get the opportunity to get any good photos of us three. Nonetheless, we still did a lot of thingsâ"you can do them too, when your family visits! Visit iconic locations on campus. Our campus is home to gorgeous pieces of architecture and wonderful bits of sceneryâ"show them off! Here are the places I took my brothers to see: 1. Alma Mater Jefferson, one of my brothers, posing with Alma. One of our first stops was Almaâ"its probably the most iconic statue on campus, and I wanted my brothers to see it. If your family visits on a special occasion, Alma could even be dressed up! 2. Altgeld Hall Image Credit: Illinois MakerLab. Home to the Department of Mathematics, Altgeld is my hands-down favorite building on campus. If youre lucky, you might even hear the bells play a familiar tune! 3. Japan House Image Credit: Japan House Gardens. Although its a little far, the Japan House and its gardens are absolutely gorgeous. I didnt go there with my brothers, but would definitely recommend it if youre just looking for a place to walk around with your family! Eat at one of the great restaurants in Champaign. There are endless possibilities if you want to find a good place to eat, but my personal favorite is The Hub. Image Credit: The Hub Champaign. The Hub is a new restaurant and bar on First and Green, and my favorite place to go for brunch. They offer great deals on food, especially when theres a Bears or Illini game on. The Hub is usually pretty quiet on weekends, but can get pretty packed on special occasions like Dads Weekend. I took both my brothers here on their last dayâ"we had a great meal and watched the first half of the Bears game before saying our goodbyes. Go to a sports game! Image Credit: The Champaign Room. If theres a game on, head over to Memorial Stadium or State Farm Center! Jefferson, a student at Wisconsin, was still sore about our homecoming victory, so we didnt talk about going to see a football game. Nonetheless, watching our Illini play is a great way to spend the day with your family. Illinois has a gorgeous campus, with tons of really cool stuff to do. My brothers both had a great time when they visited, and told me later they were really sad to leave. I enjoyed bringing them around Champaign tooâ"walking around with them made me really proud of my school. Im going up to Madison to visit Jeff the weekend before Thanksgivingâ"I know Ill have a great time, but Im sure their campus isnt as nice as ours! Franklin Class of 2022 I grew up in Hong Kong, China, and Iâve come across the world to Illinois to major in Astronomy in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Iâve always thought outer space is super cool, and I love that Iâm learning everything that I can about it at Illinois.

Educating Children And Our Elderly Population Essay
In the United States the children and our elderly population are most vulnerable. A need that needs to be addressed is that older adults have a lack of income. This mean that older adults do not have much money for food, because they have a harder time finding work that is not too labor intense. A program that I propose that would service our older population would be provided meals to older adults in the community. The goals and needs that my service program would satisfied would be food insecurity and the goal would be to increase socialization and promote community involvement. A Congregate meals site in the local community center would serve low income to no income older adults who have a need for food. Congregate meals would provide a good warm and nutritious meal and it would address the hunger and food insecurity that many older adults are facing in many poor communities. I did independent research on similar programs and services that were similar to my service program. The first Article that I read while doing research about my program was Delivering aging services: Stability and change in policies and programs. The article is about informing the elderly and their families about services that are available to them through the Older American Act (OAA). The article emphasizes that the Information, Referral and Assistance (IRA) programs was established to help family and elderly adults identify programs that would help them in their community and homes. The Sharing Research Data And Intellectual Property Law ...
Review and Reflection Paper in Reaction to: Sharing Research Data and Intellectual Property Law: A Primer, by Carroll MW (2015) Background Publishing research data in articles could make it available for public to access. In this article, the authors have discussed about sharing the research data by letting public access it leads to a challenge of reusing the data. There are various questions that might arise in the researchersââ¬â¢ minds including queries about the legal rights, the owner of the rights, and rights for permission to share the data that leads to productive utilization of the data. Introduction Any researcher seeking to use anotherââ¬â¢s data will be happy if the data is publicly available with reuse permission granted by the source of the data (the researcher or repository). However, it seems like that happiness may not persist long because there are possibilities that some third party might claim any intellectual property or other legal rights on the original data. Such lack of knowledge or legal uncertainty disturbs the use of published research data in a productive manner. I agree with the author that the law makes all these more complicated that it worth. The author mention that the source of all intellectual property rights is national law, firstly and then certain international treaties harmonize the intellectual property rights of an owner but not by country. For instance, the authors stated that the members of the European Union, have a specialized database

The Great City of Calicut Free Essays
The Great City of Calicut Located on the Malabar (southwestern) Coast of India was its port city of Calicut. Calicut, Kozhikode, was the capitol of a state which served as an important, if not the most important, state in the region in which it lay. Although Calicut lay on the coast, there was no place along its shore deep enough for ships to anchor. We will write a custom essay sample on The Great City of Calicut or any similar topic only for you Order Now Still, as early as the fourteenth century, Calicut conducted a considerable amount of trade. According to the primary sources of Ibn Battuta, Ma Huan, and an annonymous crew member of Vasco da Gamaââ¬â¢ s, Calicut flourished as a center of trade because of their resources and trade systems, among other factors, making lasting impressions on these and other foreign visitors. In the account recorded in the Roteiro (Logbook), of Vasco da Gamaââ¬â¢s anonymous crew member, various resources of Calicut were given. Calicut was a supplier and producer of several desired spices, including ginger, pepper, and the cinnamon-like spice, cassia. By the fifteenth century, Calicut had established a system for cultivating pepper. Among spices that were brought to Calicut and traded with other countries were cloves from the island of Melqua and true cinnamon from Cillion. In addition to their natural resources, the people of Calicut created and sold silk. Once the silk was acquired from the silkworm, it was boiled, dyed, then weaved into kerchiefs. Not only was Calicut admired for their resources, but Calicut established trade regulations among foreign countries that was both respected and appreciated. For example, Moroccan traveler-ambassador Ibn Battuta chronicled in his ribla (around 1356), book of travels, that when a ship wrecked along the Malabar Coast, all items from the ship were taken to the treasury. However, in Calicut, the owner of the wreckage was permitted to recollect his items. Merchants appreciated this, thus attracting further business. This policy was strategic of Calicut in that although they did not gain an immediate profit from the wrecked ships, long-term, trade efficiency increased, ultimately benefitting Calicut even more. In Chinese Muslim Ma Huanââ¬â¢s book, The Overall Survey of the Oceanââ¬â¢s Shores, published in 1451, he gives a detailed description of Calicutââ¬â¢s trading process. Once a vessel arrived in Calicut, two chiefs were appointed to it to oversee transactions. The king of Calicut sends a chief, an accountant, and a broker to inspect the accountant books. After a date is chosen to fix prices, the price of each good brought to trade to Calicut is fixed, a description, much like a receipt, is given to both parties. Next, the chief, the accountant, and the commander of the visiting ship all shake hands and agree to never retract or change the price fixed for the goods. Then the accountant and wealthy men bring riches to be assessed and priced. This process takes between one and three days. This description shows that because Calicut had such a high volume of trade, a system was developed and practiced to a ââ¬Å"Tâ⬠in order to maintain trade efficiency. This also assured that no one was cheated out of goods/money. According to the accounts of the above travelers, the development of Calicut was aided in part by their natural resources and trading systems and regulations. Chief among other factors as to why Calicut was so significant is that it served as a trading route, allowing duties to be paid to the Sultan. However, during these times, the state of Calicut was in religious divide. The king and the people were Hindu, while the chiefs were Muslim. Although the two religions respected each other, this divide may have been seen as weakness among foreigners, which may have ultimately contributed to the decline of Calicut. Trip To Mother Bethel Methodist Episcopal Church Essays
Trip To Mother Bethel Methodist Episcopal Church I thought the field trip to Mother Bethel Methodist Episcopal Church was a great experience. I enjoyed it a lot, infact, I am thinking about revisiting the church again. There were a lot of very interesting things about the church. For example, I did not know that Mother Bethel Methodist Church had so much history and significant facts that I needed to know. One fact that I did not know about is that Mother Bethel is the first African Methodist Episcopal Church in America. I think that is amazing considering the fact that back then, blacks were limited to freedom as well as education. Another fact that I learned was that Mother Bethel was the cite for the first national covention of Black people in the United States organized by Richard Allen. I also learned Mother Bethel was a station of the Underground Railroad during the 1800s. I was glad to learn about these interesting and historic facts because it is an important part of Black History. Unfortunately, I was not able to stay after service for a tour of the museum. That's why I do attend to go back to Mother Bethel Church to hear a another great message and learn more interesting facts and history about Mother Bethel. Music Essays

Brevity in Speech and Writing
Brevity in Speech and Writing Brevity is shortness in duration and/or conciseness of expression in aà speechà or aà written text. Contrast with verbosity. Brevity is generally considered a stylistic virtue as long as its not achieved at the expense of clarity. Examples and Observations If you would be pungent, be brief; for it is with words as with sunbeamsthe more they are condensed, the deeper they burn.(Robert Southey)Brevity is a great charm of eloquence.(Cicero)How brief? Well, as brief as possible but not so brief that the message doesnt get across. But messages vary so. Beat it! is short enough but very long when you reckon in the attitude that comes with it. . . . Brevity, then, depends on the message. . .Brevity, in most human communication, remains a variable governed by social relationships as much as by factual baggage. One is brief in all kinds of ways, and Poloniuss objection, This is too long, always means Too long for this person, place, and time.(Richard Lanham, Analyzing Prose, 2nd ed. Continuum, 2003)[S]ince brevity is the soul of wit,And tediousness the limbs and outward flourishes,I will be brief . . ..(Polonius in William Shakespeares Hamlet, Act 2, scene 2)There are no hard and fast rules in writing for the ear, but after more than fifty year s of working at it, I believe in some rough guidelines. Two of them are: short is usually better than long and dont waste words. The bank robber Willie Sutton got it right when he was asked why he robbed banks. Thats where the money is, he replied. Have you ever heard three words that convey a message better than stick em up, or Ive had it! or Im outta here? Have you ever heard anyone express himself better, faster, or more to the point than the judge who had the following exchange in his courtroom: As God is my judge, the defendant said, I am not guilty. To which the magistrate answered, Hes not! I am! You are!Now thats good writing. No unnecessary adverbs or adjectives, just telling it like it is. Dont be afraid to write the way people talk.(Don Hewitt, Tell Me a Story: Fifty Years and 60 Minutes in Television, PublicAffairs, 2001) Brevity in Presentations Edit ruthlessly. Brevity, always a virtue, is doubly so when youre trying to avoid watering down your impact. Matt Eventoff, principal of Princeton Public Speaking, in Princeton, N.J., says: This is stuff weââ¬â¢ve all known instinctivelyanyone whoââ¬â¢s sat in a corporate meeting over the past 20 years, with slide after slide after slide of information. It can be very powerful information, but itââ¬â¢s overwhelmingyou donââ¬â¢t know what itââ¬â¢s saying. Are we in good shape or in bad shape? You canââ¬â¢t tell. When all the points of your presentation donââ¬â¢t back up your streamlined theme, you really risk losing people and also potentially turning them off. (Christopher Bonanos, Quit While Youre Ahead. Bloomberg Businessweek, Dec. 3-Dec. 9, 2012) Brevity and Conciseness Brevity is often used indifferently with conciseness; but when any difference is implied, then properly speaking, brevity refers to the matter, conciseness to the style. In fact, when brevity of style is spoken of, it may be considered synonymous with conciseness. Strictly speaking, however, brevity merely implies the use of few words, while conciseness implies a great deal of matter concentrated in a small space. (Elizabeth Jane Whately, A Selection of English Synonyms, 1852) Brevity and Clarity It must be recognized that it is very difficult for those giving attention to brevity also to give due care to clarity; for often we either make the language unclear for the sake of clarity or for claritys sake we have to speak at length. It is necessary, then, to be on the lookout whether the brevity is proportional, neither leaving out anything necessary nor including more than is needed. (Nicolaus the Sophist, quoted by George A. Kennedy in Progymnasmata: Greek Textbooks of Prose Composition and Rhetoric. Society of Biblical Literature, 2003) Safires Contrarian View of Brevity Every book on writing you can find these days says essentially the same thing: keep it short. Take it a bite at a time. Dispense with the adjectival frills. Put the punch in the verb and not the adverb (he added weakly). Edit, edit, edit, and avoid repetition. Less is more, spare is fair. . . Maybe we are going overboard. The burst of the business memo, the snap-and-spit of the television news bite, the mincing sentences of post-Hemingway novelistsall have led to the canonization of brevity.. Introduce it, lay it out, sum it up. The dash is dead. It is not for nothing, as the Communists say, that the hottest word in communication is briefing. (William Safire, Introduction: Watch My Style. Language Maven Strikes Again. Doubleday, 1990) The Lighter Side of Brevity People whose vision is perfect in every other respect suffer from a curious astigmatism which prevents them from recognizing a stopping point when they come to it. We suggest to some ingenious inventor that he devise a combination of time clock and trip hammer by which a dull, blunt instrument shall be liberated at the end of five minutes so that it may fall with great force, killing the after dinner speaker and amusing the spectators. (Heywood Broun, We Have With Us This Evening. Pieces of Hate and Other Enthusiasms. Charles H. Doran, 1922)[Calvin Coolidges] most celebrated trait was his taciturnity. An oft-told story, which has never been verified, is that a woman sitting next to him at dinner gushed, Mr. President, my friend bet me that I wouldnt be able to get you to say three words tonight. You lose, the president supposedly responded.(Bill Bryson, One Summer: America, 1927. Doubleday, 2013) EtymologyFrom the Latin, short

The other control measure for ensuring success of marketing is the enrolment rate at which ski and snowboarding classes attended by customers are increasing and the success rate of those attending the classes. If the class enrolment rates are high, the marketing plan will have been a success within a year. The contingency plans available for the advertising through social media include printing brochures and posts and placing them at strategic location in the Eugene area containing the details of the business as well as contacts and social media pages (Fifield, 253). Advising the UK government what key actions need to be taken to adapt Essay
Advising the UK government what key actions need to be taken to adapt to and mitigate environmental change during the next 50 years - Essay Example The governing bodies all over the world are in need of having a new perspective on this depleting ecosystem, to preserve it, to provide long term good health for all the people, all over the world. The continued stability of the life supporting systems of the biosphere weighs heavily on the actions taken by the government. With temperatures rising everyday and with pollution going overboard, it is time for the UK government to start taking steps to minimize the rate of depletion, the environment is going through. Thereby, a better future can be ensured in the coming years. Environmental changes refer to the drastic change taking place in air, water, climate and other natural activities, globally. Though climate change has been widely acknowledged, there is still an uncertainty on how large and how fast the predicted effects will be on the environment. Several events in the recent past such as the hurricane Katrina in South Atlantic and the heat waves which took hundreds of lives in Europe, certainly raised questions over stability of climate. All of these cannot be attributed only to climate change. But certainly, it becomes the frontrunner when these events are predicted to occur more in future. Global warming is the main cause for the climate change happening all over the world. Upon closely scrutinizing the available data on climate, it clearly indicates that there is a rapid increase in temperature over the past decade. From the beginning of twentieth century, earthââ¬â¢s surface temperature has increased to 1.4oF (0.7oC) and in this, about 0.9oF (0.5oC) has occurred since 1978. This striking increase in temperature is definitely due to global warming which is further pronounced with the emission of green house gases and air pollution. Global warming is further pronounced with the depletion of ozone layer. It has resulted in the penetration of UV rays into earth and thereby

Looking Below the Surface of Hamlet Essay -- GCSE Coursework Shakespea
à à à The mystery of Shakespeareââ¬â¢s Hamlet is a phantom that has haunted students throughout the centuries. Hamlet is a complete enigma; a puzzle students have tried to piece together since his introduction into the school curriculum. Throughout the course of Hamlet, the student is constantly striving to rationalize Hamletââ¬â¢s odd behavior, through the playââ¬â¢s written text. In doing so, many students mistakenly draw their conclusions based on the surface content of Hamletââ¬â¢s statements and actions. When drawing into question Hamletââ¬â¢s actions as well as his reasons for acting, many assume that Hamlet himself is fully aware of his own motives. This assumption in itself produces the very matter in question. Take for example Hamletââ¬â¢s hesitation to kill the king. Hamlet believes that his desire to kill King Claudius is driven by his fathersââ¬â¢ demand for revenge. If this were true, Hamlet would kill Claudius the moment he has the chance, if not the moment he knows for sure that Claudius is guilty of murdering his father. Why does Hamlet hesitate? One must call into question what Hamlet holds to be true. If Hamletââ¬â¢s given motivation for killing the king is legitimate, then Claudius should die at about Act 3. Because Hamletââ¬â¢s actions do not correspond with his given reasoning, one is forced to look for an alternate explanation for Hamletââ¬â¢s behavior. In doing so, one will come to the conclusion that Hamlet is driven by forces other than what is o bvious to the reader, as well as Hamlet himself. Given this example, one must denounce the assumption that Hamlet is aware of the forces that motivate him, and understand that Hamletââ¬â¢s true motivation is unconscious This unconscious force is the true reason behind Hamletââ¬â¢s mysterious behavior. In n... ...hree characters, his step-father being one. Thus, by digging into Hamletââ¬â¢s unconscious, his true unconscious motives have been unveiled. In overlooking the obvious, the true force behind Hamletââ¬â¢s actions and inaction has been revealed, resulting in a final product that is an extensive comprehension of Hamletââ¬â¢s character, and is, as Gertrude would say "more matter than art".à à Works cited: à Shakespeare, William. Opportunities for Students to Practice Speaking in Class
This class is composed of 30 students in Grade 6 aged from 13 to 14, whose English level is quite deferent. About 20% of them are good at English, and they are active and participant in class, while 40% of them are poor at English, so they often remain quiet In class and sometimes can't follow the teacher. And the rest of them are of average level. They want to learn English well and are trying as hard as possible, but sometimes they are shy in class and like to be audiences rather than getting involved n class activities themselves. In this lesson, I want to focus on helping students compare and describe life in different places by using different sentence patterns to express past and present events. In addition, during the whole lesson hope to crate more opportunities for students to practice speaking in class as well as encourage the weak and average students to speak out their Ideas bravely. Sample 1. Context: At the beginning of the class, I showed students two maps of Kitty's ol d and new flat and asked them, ââ¬Å"Did she live near or far away from school? However, one of the students answered, ââ¬Å"Yes, she lived far away from school. Comment: Since this was the second period of a new lesson, I intended to check how much the students had learned about the text in the previous period, so I started it with an alternative question. However, the student didn't answer it right, which was beyond my expectation. To grade 6 students, the lead-in sentence seemed to be too complicated with alternative question for them to grasp though they were simple. They weren't able to respond correctly both In content and grammar. Appropriately In engage grading plays a vital role In a language teacher. Therefore, Instead of Glenn a confusing lead-in instruction, I could have simply elicited a question, â⬠Did Kitty live near school? Which would be easy for them to answer without feeling nervous after answering it wrong. And I can lead in the new lesson in an more effec tive way. Sample 2 Context: in the final part of the lesson, I asked students to work in pairs and talk about their deferent school life by using the given sentence patterns and key words. While one pair was doing the practice in front of the whole class, another pair of dents was still talking to each other about the class activity. In order to keep the class under control, I neglected the two students who were doing the practice and simply said In a loud voice, â⬠Let's listen to them carefully and no chatting! â⬠However, embarrassed. Comment: Although classroom management is a must for an effective lesson, my tone of instruction to keep the class under control was not very friendly. I shouldn't have interrupted the students because it broke their chain of thought suddenly and they didn't know what to do in that situation. Instead, I could have monitored the class in an more effective way by walking to them and asking them to stop talking with my body language.Sample 3 C ontext: In order to have a smooth transit from Kitty's life in different places to students' real life in different schools, I created a situation by saying, â⬠Tom is a photographer( stress on the first syllable) for our school newspaper, and he has taken many photos about our school life. Please look at his pictures on the PPTP and think about the life in your primary school. Let's work in pairs and finish the speaking activity together. Comment: Accuracy in word pronunciation when giving a clear instruction is a basic requirement for a language teacher. Here, I gave an inaccurate stress on the word : photographer. The correct stress should be on the second syllable instead of the first one. Enough attention should be paid next time I speak out the word. Sample 4 Context: In a drill related to the key sentence patterns of the lesson, I showed students two pictures of a swimming pool and the sea and elicit a dialogue for them to practice as follows: T: What did Kitty and Ben do when they lived in the city enter? S: When they lived in the city center, they swim in the swimming pool. T: They swim? S: Oh, they swam in the swimming pool.T: Now they live in the suburbs. Where do they swim? In the sea. S: Now they swim Comment: In order to make the student aware of his mistake in grammar, I repeat the mistake with rising intonation and stress on the mistaken word so that he can pay attention to it and correct themselves immediately. Here I tried to get students to self-correct with echo correct clearly and effectively and I got instant expected feedback. Sample 5 Context: Two pictures were shown on the PPTP about Kitty and Ben getting up when they lived in the city center and when they live in the suburbs. There was a clock elicit the following questions: T: Look at the picture. What time did Kitty and Ben get up in the past? S: They got up at seven o'clock in the past. T: Did they get up late? S: Yes, they did. T: Now look at this picture. What time do they get up now? S: Now they get up at half past six. T: Do they get up late now? S: No, they don't. They get up early. T: Can you finish the sentence now? When they lived in the city center, they Now they live in the suburbs, and they After answering these questions, students can finish the sentence easily and correctly.Comment: In order to check whether students have understood the target sentence structure ââ¬Å"When they lived â⬠¦. , they got up I elicited several concept checking questions to make sure that they have grasped the meaning of a new sentence structure. I broke down the meaning or concept of the target structure into a number of simple questions for students to have a clear idea of it. Besides, I also showed the employed sentence on the PPTP to make the pattern of the grammar clear so that the students can memorize it better.Sample 6 Context: Two pictures were shown on the PPTP. One was a TV set and the other was the sky full of bright stars. T: Now let's look at the t wo pictures. (Teacher points to the pictures). They are about Ben and Kitty's life at night. This time let's do a pair work in two minutes. (Show students the pattern of pair work) Let's go! SSL: What did Kitty and Ben do at night when they lived in the city center? SO: When they â⬠¦ , they SSL : Now they live in the suburbs. What do they do at night? SO: Now they K, time is up. Let's come back.Any volunteers? (Students raised their hands). K, good. Stand up please. Comment: Although it is not always necessary to use Instruction Concept Questions, they can often make sure that the learners know exactly what they are asked to do in class step by step. Here I broke down my instructions into a series of simple chunked statements so that students could understand and respond to them quickly. As a result, they could be more involved and participant in the class activities and contribute more to the class. Candidate Name: Lion Gonzalez

Though all of these are significant, the most prominent theme can be said to be the Call to Family, Community and Participation. When Mr. Simonet presents the class with a vague and open ended assignment of making the world a better place, Trevor, an attentive and inspired student, sees it as a challenge and a duty that he is required to fill. He begins his search for a way that he can change the world for the better. This sparks the beginning of an amazing movement that this boy creates. Trevor begins to try helping people around him. He forms an idea that each person in the world should help three people, obligating each of these three people to help an additional three people. The concept sets grounds for a rapid adoption by many people, meani ng that mass amounts of people would be receiving help from others in one way or another. He brings a homeless man into the house, only for his distraught mother to kick the man out. Later she finds out that he simply wanted help in his life and was willing to help others in return. Trevor also tries to help out his friend, Adam, who continuously gets bullied and beat up by other kids at school. It is acts such as this that truly change other peoples lives, and also, ultimately, took Trevors life. While trying to stop bullies from hurting Adam, one of the bullies pulls out a knife and stabs Trevor, later killing him. This shows the absolute dedication that Trevor had to his community. The movement continued on and started to spread more and more, causing people across the nation to be rewarded by random acts of kindness, and to spread these acts further. Trevor truly demonstrated what it means to seek the common good and unmitigated well-being of everyone. Donââ¬â¢t waste time! To cognize how malignant neoplastic disease starts it is helpful to cognize how normal blood cells form. Most blood cells are formed in the bone marrow called root cells. Bone marrow is the soft stuff in the centre of most castanetss. When mature it develops into different sorts of blood cells, each sort does a particular occupation. Major sorts include the ruddy blood cells and the white blood cells. White blood cells are helpful to contend infections. There are many sorts of white blood cells. Red blood cells carry O to the tissues throughout the organic structure. The thrombocytes help organize blood coagulums to forestall hemorrhage. White blood cells, ruddy blood cells, and thrombocytes are created from root cells when organic structure needs them. When these cells grow old or damaged, they die, and so new cells take their topographic point. In a patient who has leukaemia, the bone marrow makes unnatural white blood cells. Those unnatural blood cells are called leukemia cells. Normal blood cells die when they reach a certain age or when they get damaged, whereas leukaemia cells do non decease after aging or acquiring damaged. They start to herd out normal white blood cells, ruddy blood cells, and thrombocytes. This state of affairs makes it really hard for normal blood cells to make their occupation. There are two types of leukaemia ; the types of leukaemia can be grouped on the bases of how speedy the disease develops and gets worse. Leukemia is either chronic which normally gets worse easy, or theirs acute which normally gets worse rapidly. Chronic Leukemia: In the beginning phases of the disease, the leukaemia cells can still make the occupation for normal white blood cells. Patient may non hold any mark at first ; physicians frequently find the chronic leukaemia during a everyday medical examination before there are any symptoms. Gradually, chronic leukaemia gets worse. As the figure of leukemia cells in the blood additions, patients starts to acquire symptoms, such as conceited lymph nodes, febrilities, dark workout suits, weak feeling, hemorrhage, weight loss, swelling, hurting or infections. When those symptoms do look, they are normally mild at first and acquire worse easy. Acute Leukemia: The leukaemia cells ca nââ¬â¢t make any of the work of normal white blood cells. The figure of leukemia cells increases rapidly. Patients normally go to their physician because they feel ill. If the encephalon is affected, they may headaches, purging, confusion, loss of musculus control, or ictuss. Patients start to acquire symptoms, such as conceited lymph nodes, febrilities, dark workout suits, weak feeling, hemorrhage, weight loss, swelling, hurting or infections. Acute leukaemia normally worsens quickly. Diagnosis: Have one or more of the undermentioned trials done: physical test, blood trials, biopsy done two ways bone marrow aspiration and bone marrow biopsy. Prevention: As long bar goes, there is no manner to forestall leukaemia at this clip. However, avoiding hazard factors such as smoke, exposure to toxic chemicals, diagnostic X raies, and exposure to radiation may assist forestall some instances of leukaemia. Being healthy and remaining healthy dramas a large function in forestalling leukaemia. What we put into our organic structures has a batch to make with our overall wellness. Cancer Contending Foods: I have besides done some research on nutrients that are known to forestall different types of malignant neoplastic disease. Black Raspberries A ; Blueberries ââ¬â contain an antioxidant that kills leukemia cells without harming healthy cells. Carrots ââ¬â contain beta provitamin A, which may assist cut down malignant neoplastic disease. Broccoli, Brassica oleracea botrytis, Brussels sprouts, and chou ââ¬â contains two antioxidants, xanthophyll and zeaxanthin that may assist cut down malignant neoplastic disease. Garlic ââ¬â increases the activity of immune cells and helps interrupt down substances that cause malignant neoplastic disease. Grapefruits, oranges, papaia, pomegranate ââ¬â aid prevent malignant neoplastic disease Treatment: Leukemia intervention falls into two types of intervention to contend the malignant neoplastic disease and intervention to alleviate the symptoms of the disease and the side effects of the intervention. Chemotherapy is the widely used intervention for leukaemia ; it is the powerful drug to kill leukemia cells. Therapy can be administered by oral cavity or vena depending on the type of medicine. Sometimes depending on the instance chemotherapy can be given at place. In other instances patient has to hospitalise to have the therapy. By this it kills cells or halt them from reproducing. It besides kills quickly turning healthy cells, accounting for many of the side effects of therapy. The badness of the side effects depends on the doses given and the patient ââ¬Ës tolerance. Chemotherapy is normally given in rhythms. Each rhythm consists of terrible intervention over several yearss followed by a few hebdomads without intervention for remainder and recovery from side effects caused by the therapy, largely anemia and low white blood cells. The sequence is so repeated. It may be administered for two to six rhythms, depending on subtype leukaemia and hazard factors involved. Bone marrow test may be done prior to each rhythm of therapy. After completion of intervention the patient is evaluated once more to see the consequence of the chemotherapy for leukaemia. Decision: In terminal it is all about how we take attention of our organic structures, our diet plays a large function in our well being and remaining healthy. As stated above leukaemia malignant neoplastic disease is a really unsafe disease. We should take proper safeguard to forestall this disease. Doctors are taking several steps to forestall this malignant neoplastic disease from distributing in human organic structure. Processor clock speed vs Instructions per cycle (IPC): Processor clock speed or CPU clock rate define the speed of processor which is used to determine the execution of one or a bunch of instruction in a slot of time span (Crowley et al. 2014). CPU Clock cycles are used to regulate the execution of instruction sets and also creates a synchronized process to execute that instruction in a periodic way. The fastest computer processor with higher clock speed rate can execute more instruction in a single time span whereas a lower clock speed based processors can process minimum numbers of instruction in the same period (Warnock et al. 2015). CPU clock speeds are measured by the MHz (megahertz) or GHz (Gigahertz). CPU performances depend upon the clock cycle of CPU. Instruction per Cycle (IPC) is achieved by calculating the number of instructions are processed on a single CPU clock cycle (Thakur et al. 2013). Processor Clock rate is used to accumulate the speed ratio of a processor where IPC or instruction per cycle is used to determine the performances. As a maximum number of instruction which is processed by a processor is defined the efficiency of the processor. The IPC value can be maximized by the forming multi-process computing or parallel computing. Parallel computing uses a different mechanism rather than a singleton system. All the computing resources are shared to maximize the CPU clock cycle utilization. As an example, a simple processor processes the instruction as follows Fetch the instruction Decode the instruction Store on memory Location Execution of instruction Update program counter The above-described process is executed in a sequential manner but in the case of parallel computing, these process is distributed by the priority, access level, etc. which has better performance than traditional singleton computing system. The higher IPC reduce the throughput of a processor because multiple processing does not maintain the predefined way of execution sometimes it takes longer time than usual (Peng et al. 2013). Where if the instruction set follows the sequential manner the processor will utilize the maximum computing power on the specific instruction set. The technology over maximization of IPC depends on highly qualified engineering because the process of IPC maximization is achieved after the design of processor computing architecture. After that, there are multiple CPU cores, multiple cache memory block, and the pipelining process is used to gain the higher IPC rate (Ferdman et al. 2014). The main objective of this IPC maximization process is used to deal with the fixed rate processor clock cycle. The clock speed of CPU is not changeable due to its design restriction thats why peoples are trying to implement the most prominent way of multiple processing. Sometimes the higher rate of instruction per cycle can cause hardware breakdown of a system due to excessive workload. It is oblivious that the processor clock cycle or processors clock speed and the instruction per cycle or IPC efficiency level is totally opposite from each other. For getting the maximum performance, it is necessary to use these resource at an optimum level. B-Q3. Variation in English free essay sample
English like any other language, like every language, is subject to variation. This variation can be complex and at times subtle. This text provides us with information about the principal ways in which British and Irish English speech varies and, just as importantly, the non-linguistic (social, geographical) factors which condition variation. Variation in pronunciation RP Dialect: refers to the varieties distinguished from each other by differences of grammar and vocabulary. Accent: on the other hand, refers to variations in pronunciation. RP stands for ââ¬Å"received pronunciationâ⬠. Received here is understood in its nineteeth-century sense of accepted in the most polite circles of society. RP remained the accent of those in the upper reaches of the social scale, as measured by education, income and profession, or title. It has traditionally been the accent of those educated at public schools. It is not the accent of any particular region. It enjoys the highest prestige in England. We will write a custom essay sample on Variation in English or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page It is estimated that only about 3 to 5 percent of the population of England speak RP. Since it is clearly a minority accent, why then, is it the only British accent taught to foreign learners? Social prestige; RP is often associated with high social status, wealth and power of its speakers. It is often considered the best, the clearest, and even the most beautiful accent. Because of its use on radio and television within Britain RP has become probably the most widely understood of all accents. Moreover, it is by far the most thoroughly described of British accents. Language change Accents change with time. In RP, for example, there has for some considerable time been a tendency, through a process known by linguists as smoothing, for certain triphthongs and diphthongs to become monophthongs. There is not a perfect correlation between age and pronunciation. Some RP speakers will regard the distinguishing features of the advanced variety of the accent as ââ¬Å"affectedâ⬠and will not alter their own speech, at least not until these features become more general with the passage of time. Other RP speakers will be only too ready to integrate them into their own speech. As there are early or conservative adopters, it would be misleading to say there is only one, fixed form of the accent, since at any stage the accent will be a mixture of traditional and innovative features. The long-standing association of RP with affection, social snobbery, aloofness, and so on, is increasingly out of keeping with the kind of image many of the accentââ¬â¢s younger speakers would wish to project of themselves. This trend can be noticed in the influence of non-standard and foreign accents and dialects, along with a general deterioration in other modes of behaviour (dress, manner, respect for elders) and a perceived rise of sloppiness in pronunciation and disregard for proper grammar. The decline of RP and standard English can be reflected in the rise of a new variety first dubbed ââ¬Å"Estuary Englishâ⬠by Rosewarne (1984) The usual definition of Estuary English is an amalgam of RP and working-class London speech (Cockney). This seemed to be a neutral variety which provided the opportunity for lower-class speakers to appear higher status than they are, and for middle-and upper-class speakers to appear lower status than they are. A particular salient, widely discussed and often heavily stigmatized Estuary form is glottal stop / / as a pronunciation of / t /in certain contexts. Another example of a feature entering modern RP which probably has its origins in a non-standard accent is the (w)-like labio dental approximant (v)as a pronunciation of / / that appears to be spreading fairly fast in British English. Another example of a change is at a relatively early stage in its progress is the so-called High-rising, the high rise terminal (HRT), Australian question intonation (AQI)or uptalk. This phenomenon is often defined as the use, in statements, of the rising intonation pattern normally associated with questions. Some people interpret high-rising tone as an indication of general uncertainty and lack of confidence on the part of the young people who use it. These people have also attributed this influence to Australian and New Zealand English, both of which share this property. This suggestion has been raised because it has become so common for young British school leavers to travel independently overseas on the backpacking trail, often for extended periods. The use of high-rising may have come to act as a badge of well-travelled or wordly status. In tandem with its association with the appealing stereotype of Australians, and New Zealanders as relaxed, friendly, open, sporty, fun-loving, etc. The claim that the use of HRT patterns indicates uncertainty is also probably untenable, given that such patterns may be used when giving information about which the speaker cannot have any doubt (name, personal information, etc. ) Stylistic variation It is the variation conditioned by speakers? perceptions of the situation in which they are speaking. There is variation among RP speakers and in the pronunciation of individual speakers.

Overview of Partial Classes in Visual Basic .NET
Overview of Partial Classes in Visual Basic .NET Partial Classes are a feature of VB.NET that is used almost everywhere, but theres not much written about it. This might be because there are not a lot of obvious developer applications for it yet. The primary use is in the way ASP.NET and VB.NET solutions are created in Visual Studio where its one of those features that is normally hidden. A partial class is simply a class definition that is split into more than one physical file. Partial classes dont make a difference to the compiler because all the files that make up a class are simply merged into a single entity for the compiler. Since the classes are just merged together and compiled, you cant mix languages. That is, you cant have one partial class in C# and another in VB. You cant span assemblies with partial classes either. They all have to be in the same assembly. This is used a lot by Visual Studio itself, especially in web pages where it is a key concept in code behind files. Well see how this works in a Visual Studio, but understanding what changed in Visual Studio 2005 when it was introduced is a good starting point. In Visual Studio 2003, the hidden code for a Windows application was all in a section called a Region marked Windows Form Designer generated code. But it was still all there in the same file and it was easy to view, and change, the code in the Region. All of the code is available to your application in .NET. But since some of it is code that you should almost never mess with, it was kept in that hidden Region. (Regions can still be used for your own code, but Visual Studio doesnt use them anymore.) In Visual Studio 2005 (Framework 2.0), Microsoft did approximately the same thing, but they hid the code in a different place: a partial class in a separate file. You can see this at the bottom of the illustration below: Click Here to display the illustrationClick the Back button on your browser to return One of the syntax differences between Visual Basic and C# right now is that C# requires that all partial classes be qualified with the keyword Partial but VB does not. Your main form in VB.NET doesnt have any special qualifiers. But the default class statement for an empty Windows application looks like this using C#: public partial class Form1 : Form Microsofts design choices on things like this are interesting. When Paul Vick, Microsofts VB designer, wrote about this design choice in his blog Panopticon Central, the debate about it in the comments went on for pages and pages. Lets see how all this works with real code on the next page. On the previous page, the concept of partial classes was explained. We convert a single class into two partial classes on this page. Heres an example class with one method and one property in a VB.NET project Public Class CombinedClass à à à Private m_Property1 As String à à à Public Sub New(ByVal Value As String) à à à à à à m_Property1 Value à à à End Sub à à à Public Sub Method1() à à à à à à MessageBox.Show(m_Property1) à à à End Sub à à à Property Property1() As String à à à à à à Get à à à à à à à à à Return m_Property1 à à à à à à End Get à à à à à à Set(ByVal value As String) à à à à à à à à à m_Property1 value à à à à à à End Set à à à End Property End Class This class can be called (for example, in the Click event code for a Button object) with the code: Dim ClassInstance As New _ à à à CombinedClass(About Visual Basic Partial Classes) ClassInstance.Method1() We can separate the properties and methods of the class into different physical files by adding two new class files to the project. Name the first physical file Partial.methods.vb and name the second one Partial.properties.vb. The physical file names have to be different but the partial class names will be the same so Visual Basic can merge them when the code is compiled. Its not a syntax requirement, but most programmers are following the example in Visual Studio of using dotted names for these classes. For example, Visual Studio uses the default name Form1.Designer.vb for the partial class for a Windows form. Remember to add the Partial keyword for each class and change the internal class name (not the file name) to the same name. I used the internal class name: PartialClass. The illustration below shows all of the code for the example and the code in action. Click Here to display the illustrationClick the Back button on your browser to return Visual Studio hides partial classes such as Form1.Designer.vb. On the next page, we learn how to do that with the partial classes we just created. The previous pages explain the concept of partial classes and show how to code them. But Microsoft uses one more trick with the partial classes generated by Visual Studio. One of the reasons for using them is to separate application logic from UI (user interface) code. In a large project, these two types of code might even be created by different teams. If theyre in different files, they can be created and updated with a lot more flexibility. But Microsoft goes one more step and hides the partial code in Solution Explorer as well. Suppose we wanted to hide the methods and properties partial classes in this project? Theres a way, but its not obvious and Microsoft doesnt tell you how. One of the reasons you dont see the use of partial classes recommended by Microsoft is that its not really supported very well in Visual Studio yet. To hide the Partial.methods.vb and Partial.properties.vb classes that we just created, for example, requires a change in the vbproj file. This is an XML file that isnt even displayed in Solution Explorer. You can find it with Windows Explorer along with your other files. A vbproj file is shown in the illustration below. Click Here to display the illustrationClick the Back button on your browser to return The way were going to do this is to add a root class that is completely empty (only the Class header and End Class statement are left) and make both of our partial classes dependent on it. So add another class named PartialClassRoot.vb and again change the internal name to PartialClass to match the first two. This time, I have not used the Partial keyword just to match the way Visual Studio does it. Heres where a little knowledge of XML will come in very handy. Since this file will have to be updated manually, you have to get the XML syntax right. You can edit the file in any ASCII text editor - Notepad works just fine - or in an XML editor. It turns out that you have a great one in Visual Studio and thats what is shown in the illustration below. But you cant edit the vbproj file at the same time that youre editing the project its in. So close the project and open only the vbproj file. You should see the file displayed in the edit window as shown in the illustration below. (Note the Compile elements for each class. DependentUpon sub-elements must be added exactly as shown in the illustration below. This illustration was created in VB 2005 but it has been tested in VB 2008 as well.) Click Here to display the illustrationClick the Back button on your browser to return For many of us, its probably enough to know that partial classes are there, just so we know what they are when were trying to track down a bug in the future. For large and complex systems development, they could be a small miracle because they can help organize code in ways that would have been impossible before. (You can also have partial structures and partial interfaces!) But some people have concluded that Microsoft invented them just for internal reasons - to make their code generation work better. Author Paul Kimmel even went so far as to suggest that Microsoft actually created partial classes to lower their costs by making it easier to outsource development work around the world. Maybe. Its the kind of thing they might do.
